A trip to Provo that could be a “disappointment” game for the Sooners.

The schedule for the Oklahoma Sooners looks pretty straightforward. There isn’t a game on the schedule that looks daunting heading into 2023. While they’ll be challenged throughout their final tour through the Big 12, some of the places they’ll have to travel to will certainly present challenges.

The trips to Cincinnati, Stillwater and Provo are big, though the teams Oklahoma faces in those areas aren’t projected to contend for a 2023 top 12 seed. College Football News believes that a trip to Provo to face BYU late November could be a stumbling block for the Sooners.

The Sooners certainly don’t have a letdown, but they do have a very, very scary date late in the season. This will be the third road game in four weeks before ending against TCU. – College Football News

The Sooners are 0-2 all-time against the BYU Cougars. That late November, the elements can play a major role. Oklahoma has played in inclement weather before, such as a 2016 trip to Morgantown to face the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Whether the elements come into play or not, Oklahoma could be tired when they make the trip to Utah. They will play at Kansas, Oklahoma State and at home against West Virginia before their final road trip in the Big 12 series.

Oklahoma will have a chance to compete when they face BYU. They have a chance to erase an 0-2 record in the history books and get back to the Big 12 title game before moving on to the SEC.
