Tennis players posted wins | Newtown Bee

The Newtown High Schools girls tennis team continued a strong regular season with a Southwest Conference championship (see May 26 Bee for more coverage of the team’s May 18 SWC title run).

NHS defeated host Notre Dame-Fairfield 7-0 on May 10. Willow Assante-LaBash and Nadia Andrew both won the top singles spot 6-0, 6-0. Sophia Dutsar won 6-2, 6-2 at third singles, and Eren Weiss won 6-0, 6-3 at fourth singles. In doubles, Olivia Guizzo and Isabella Montoya won 6-0, 6-1; Margaret Donovan and Ella Morits won 6-1, 6-1; and Brooke Jackson and Katie Jarvis won 6-0, 6-0.

The Nighthawks beat host New Milford 7-0 on May 15. Assante-LaBash won 6-0, 6-0, Andrew and Madison Singlak both won 6-1, 6-0 and Dutsar won 6-2, 6. -3. In doubles, Kristen Reisert and Caitlin Briggs won 6-0, 6-1; Guizzo and Montoya won 6-2, 6-0; and Erin Marshall and Molly Lyddy won 6-2, 6-1.

On the boys field, NHS posted a 5-2 win over visiting New Milford on May 15.
