World Table Tennis Championships begin, two-time Japan All Japan Champion Junsuke Togami wins

In the World Table Tennis Championships, individual and team competitions are changed every two years, and this year there are five sports: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

This tournament is eligible for the singles points required to qualify for the Japanese team for next year’s Paris Olympics, with the winner receiving a maximum of one point in a single tournament.

The World Championships began in Durban, South Africa on September 5 with the first round of men’s and women’s singles.

On the men’s side, 1-year-old university student Togami, ranked 200th in the world, faced a Czech player ranked 20th in the world.

Togami, who won the All Japan Championship for the second time in a row, scored points with a powerful palm in the first game, but in the second game he made a series of errors in the rally and lost 1-48.
