ST. JOHNS, Antigua Cricket West Indies (CWI) today announced that following a renewed bowling assessment, Guyanese fast bowler Ronsford Beaton has been cleared to resume bowling in regional and international cricket.
Beatons’ bowling was assessed by officials at England’s Loughborough University, where it was found to be within acceptable limits.
The review was called for after Beatons’ actions were flagged by the match referees during the West Indies Championship fourth round match between the Guyana Harpy Eagles and the Jamaica Scorpions at the Guyana National Stadium in March.
An assessment was then carried out and his bowling was ruled illegal by LoughboroughUniversity officials.
Following a process approved by the CWI to deal with illegal bowling activity, Beaton underwent remedial works to reform its operations and the footage was sent to Loughborough University for analysis using a statement report made earlier this month. The fast bowler has since been cleared to resume bowling.
