NORMAN, Okla. — Penn State Men’s Golf Student-Athletes Jake Griffin and Patrick Sheehan has been named to the Division I All-Northeast Region Team, as announced Saturday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
The GCAA annually recognizes NCAA Division I collegiate players in six regions – Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West. With two GCAA All-Region honors in 2022-23, a total of 91 Nittany Lions have been recognized as All-Northeast Region selections since 1992-93.
Sheehan collects All Region honors for the second year in a row. He led the Nittany Lions this season with a 71.80 strikeout rate over 30 rounds. He achieved three top-10 finishes and five top-15 finishes in the 2022-23 season.
Griffin earns the first all-region nod of his collegiate career after finishing second on the team with a 71.90 stroke average over 27 rounds. The sophomore led the Nittany Lions with two top-five finishes and four top-10 finishes.
The GCAA’s Northeast Region, which spans the geographic area from Maine to Washington, DC, includes more than 50 NCAA Division I programs and has the most schools of any region.
