Men’s track and field finished 13th at the NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas The Texas men’s track and field team finished 13th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, scoring 18 points after 21 events.

The Longhorns led by Leo Neugebauer historic decathlon win Thursday night after scoring 8,836 points to break the college record. Neugebauer’s win gave Texas 10 points.

Yusuf Bizimana was national runner-up in the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 1:45.74. The time bettered his previous best of No. 2 on Texas’ all-time hitting list, and he now owns two of the top five times in school history. Bizimana finished his junior season as the NCAA indoor 800m champion and outdoor runner-up, and is now a five-time All-American.

Crayton Carriage finished ninth in 1:47.23 and earned Second Team All-America honors.

Both Jeremiah Nubbe and Sam Hurley finished with second-team All-America honors in his respective events. Nubbe set a personal best in the discus with a heave of 57.94 meters (190-1), earning her her first second-team USTFCCCA All-America honor.

Hurley cleared 2.11 meters (6-11) in the high jump to finish tied for fourth and also earned second-team All-America honors for the first time in her career.

Kristine Blazevica finished his first heptathlon day in sixth place with 3559 points. He started the day by finishing seventh in the 100m hurdles with 1055 points. The three-time All American cleared 1.72 meters (5-7.75) in the high jump to add 879 points and set a season-best throw of 12.83 meters (42-1.25) to take sixth with 3,559 points. Blazevica finished the 200m race day with a time of 24.76.
