USCs Eryn Cayetano selected as recipient of ITA National Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award

LOS ANGELES, CaliforniaUSC women’s tennis seniorEryn Cayetanohas been named the 2023 ITA National Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award recipient, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Monday morning. The news comes just one week after he was named the winner of the ITA Southwest Region Sportsmanship Award.

Cayetano, a two-time All-American, is known among her teammates for her commitment to the USC women’s tennis program and her concern for others. This season, he and his partner reached the NCAA doubles semifinalsMaddy Sieg.

On the court, Cayetano has been one of the best players in all of college tennis during his career at USC. He was the ITA Fall National Champion in 2022 and ranked No. 1 in singles at the end of Fall 2022. A career ITA All-American in both singles and doubles, he has played in the top three of USC’s lineup. his entire career. As a teammate, Cayetano is a leader in terms of driving, work ethic and sportsmanship. He has the highest character and treats all his opponents, teammates, coaches and support staff with respect. The ITA Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship goes to a Division I female player who demonstrates inspiring dedication and commitment to her team that has improved her team’s performance and exemplified the spirit of collegiate tennis. The honor dates back to 1997 and is in memory of the late and widely admired Penn women’s tennis coach Cissie Leary.

This year marks the second consecutive season that Cayetano has received the prestigious regional honor, as he was selected to receive the award in 2022 as well.
