Ex-Texas star Peyton Stearns takes a break from tennis after finding a parasite in his body

Peyton Stearns had a career performance at the French Open, but he apparently took more than just ranking points from his Paris experience.

In a recent tweet, the former Texas star announced that she has been battling an unknown illness since the French Open. Stearns though it ran, but after weeks of discomfort he went to the doctor and found out he had a parasite in his body.

Stearns’ last tournament was the Makarsa Open 125. As the fourth seed, she won her opening match against Reka Luca Jan of Hungary 2–6, 6–4, 6–2 before losing in the second round to Rebecca Sramkova. Slovak Republic 6-3, 7-5.

Former three-time NCAA champion Stearns has been on the rise in the 2022-23 season, rising all the way from outside the top 200 to world No. 56. In Paris, Stearns beat No. 17 and former champion Jelena Ostapenko before falling. ninth place Daria Kasatkina in the round of 32.
