Tennis Canada and National Bank will provide $50,000 in funding as part of the Games. Set. Own capital. Community Tennis Grants Program

Tennis Canada today launched the application process for the 2023 Games. Set. Own capital. National Bank Community Tennis Scholarships. Initiatives focused on women’s and girls’ programming from across the country are invited to apply for selection as one of ten programs that will each release $5,000.

Game starting its second year. Set. Own capital. The Community Tennis Grants are a testament to Tennis Canada and National Banks’ commitment to creating lasting change for women and girls in all aspects of tennis, from excellence and coaching to leadership and beyond.

“We want to empower and support organizations and community groups across the country that are advancing women and girls through tennis,” said Terri Temelini, Director of Women & Girls Advancement, Tennis Canada. Community Tennis Scholarships by National Bank because we know there are many deserving recipients out there. The goal of this funding is to strengthen and showcase community programs and attract more women and girls to stay in tennis for the long term as athletes, coaches, officials and leaders.

In March, Tennis Canada and National Bank announced the opening of the game. Set. Own capital. Community Tennis Scholarships. The eight funded programs cover six provinces, and they are already in good use. In the coming months, Tennis Canada will showcase each recipient’s program as part of a series of content on its website and social media.

The first spotlight was released in April and focused on the outstanding work of Girls Leading Girls (GLG) Tennis in Nova Scotia. 80 girls aged 6–18 participated in the program. The programming is designed to provide an environment for girls to develop a love of tennis and a path to develop strong leadership skills. That was followed by a feature at the EB Tennis Academy in Quebec, another 2022 grantee, earlier this month.

Complete information on the 2023 grant application process can be found by clicking here. Applicants must meet certain eligibility requirements to be eligible for selection. The initiatives must primarily focus on the participation, retention and/or promotion of self-identified women and girls, so that at least 70 percent of the funding must be directed to women’s and girls’ programs. It includes but is not limited to:

• Increasing coaching, delivery and/or next generation leadership opportunities.
• The opportunities for girls and/or women to participate in programming, training or competition are increased.
• We support the development of capacities for equality work through training
