The World Games Special Olympics are currently taking place in Berlin, and more than 7,000 athletes have gathered from around the world to participate. This includes athletes from Aruba. The table tennis duo played many matches to see which series they could enter. The duo will face Thailand and Cte dAzur on Tuesday.
This doubles team consists of two young men, Zyon Orman and Leewald Tromp. 24ora.com had the opportunity to interview Leewald Tromp. Tromp said that even though they didn’t win any of the prelims, he hopes the actual competition goes in their favor. For Tromp, it’s important to represent Aruba well among all these other athletes from over 1,000 countries.
Aruba delegation leader Karel Cai Cai Williams commented that the players Aruba faced during the allocation process were of a much higher level than our athletes. This is why they didn’t win any of those matches. Together with their coach, they will continue to provide the necessary guidance to the athletes in the coming days.
