Roger Federer corrects Kate Middleton’s tennis mistake at Wimbledon: Can you do that?

Roger Federer and a ball girl corrected Kate Middleton’s mistake during a game on the court at Wimbledon.

The Princess of Wales took part in a match with the tennis star on Sunday while visiting the Ball Boys and Girls show at Wimbledon. In the video shared by the tennis competition YouTubeKate threw the ball to Federer as he stood at the opposite end of the court.

When Federers teammate offered the ball towards Kate, she caught it with one hand. When the ball girl Mollie told Kate that this was a good catch, Federer stepped in questioningly. Do you have permission to do so? he asked.

Kate also wondered if she could catch the ball as she replied: Oh yeah, can you do that? That’s a good point. Federer explained the rules of the game to Kate when he pointed out that in Australia the players would catch the tennis ball, but at Wimbledon they wouldn’t.

Mollie agreed and added, Yeah, you weren’t meant to catch it. You’re supposed to let it bounce and then catch it, but good catch.

The clip of Kate catching the ball has gone viral on TikTok, where it has garnered more than 8.4 million views. In the comments, many fans praised Kate for the way she caught the ball when she shouldn’t have.

It was a good catch though, one wrote, while another added: You have to admit it looks so damn smooth when he catches it.

A third joked: She’s Princess Kate, so yes, SHE got to catch it.

Others praised Kate for how she reacted to the correction on the field.

Over the weekend, Middleton and Federer met 250 teenagers from Wimbledons Ball Boys & Girls (BBGs) who are working at The Championships in July. According to the organization’s official websiteThese teenagers, who are usually aged around 15, began training at Raynes Park Community Sports Ground in February.

In a Wimbledon YouTube video, Kate also thanked the teenagers for working hard during practice.

He told the group to see the training and dedication and time spent on training and making sure this goes well on the day of the Champions playing at Wimbledon. Incredible to see it.

This is not the first time that Kate and Federer have paired up. In September 2022, the couple will host the Laver Cup Open Practice Day, with proceeds going to Action for Children and the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (LTA).
