Germany won the gold medal in the table tennis men’s team tournament – European Games 2023

Germany beat Sweden 3-1 and successfully defended the European Championship, which it won 4 years ago in the previous games in Minsk. Third place belonged to France, who beat Portugal 3-2.

Only the first match of the final was won by Sweden, it was a double. The next three singles matches fell to Germany, who were the best side in the men’s table tennis tournament at the European Championships Krakw Maopolska 2023.

National coach Jrg ROSSKOPF commented: “The doubles match was very tight. All matches were of a very high standard with some great rallies. Franz’s match against Kristian was particularly important, and Dang also played very focused after the doubles. Dima definitely played his best match here in Krakow against Antoni. It was a great final and it shows that we are still the number one team in Europe.

Dang QIU remarked: “It was a tough match that we expected against Sweden. I think Franz’s win was incredibly important and it was very competitive. Sweden also deserved to win. But in the end Dima did what he did best, which was to finish the game! We are very happy with the win. We are in Europe first team and we wanted to keep our position!

Trick MORGARDH, Sweden’s manager said this was not their day: As a team, we want to forget this final as soon as possible. Germany is always a strong team, unfortunately stronger than us. We look forward to beating them in Malmö at the EC.
