Inter Miami CF II (4W-10L-2D, 14 points) suffered a 0-3 loss against New York Red Bulls II on Sunday night at the DRV PNK Stadium. In the match, Academy player Jack Pymm made his professional debut when he entered the field in the 63rd minute.
Herons the starting XI included Cole Jensen in goal; Harvey Neville, Tyler Hall, Farid Sar-Sar, Nykolas Sessock in the backline; captain Abel Caputo leads the midfield alongside Cameron Johnson, Lawson Sunderland and Lucas Meek; and Edison Azcona and Shanyder Borgelin lead the offense.
Both sides opened the first half evenly with scoring opportunities, the most notable of which was Johnson’s header attempt on goal. However, the Red Bulls struck first with forward Frank Ssebufu’s close-range goal as defender Dija delivered a right-sided cross in the 14th minute.
However, Inter Miami held firm and used their possession to create two scoring opportunities with Caputo’s long shot and another Johnson header from the right side of the box. Despite Herons great all-around play, New York’s OVonte Mullings put the teams second in the back of the net with a right-footed shot from the center of the box to extend their lead to 0-2 before the break.
Minutes after halftime, the Red Bulls quickly scored a third after a foul in the box. Midfielder Ibrahim Kasule stepped up and converted the penalty. Nevertheless, Inter Miami continued to press the away team’s back line and tried to reduce the deficit with several goal attempts from Sunderland, Borgelin and substitute Pymm.
The situation remained until the final whistle, when the Red Bulls won 0-3.
Next up, the team now continues more action at home as Inter Miami II takes on the New England Revolution II on Sunday, July 9th at 6pm ET at DRV PNK Stadium.
