Former Hebron football coach Brian Brazil has died after a battle with cancer

Former Hebron football coach Brian Brazil, who spent the past school year as the senior athletic director for the Prestonwood Christian Academy System of Schools, died Wednesday morning after a yearlong battle with cancer.

Prestonwood confirmed the Brazilian’s death via email and released a statement from Michael Goddard, superintendent of the PCA School System:

Brian Brazil was one of the most genuine men I have ever called a friend, Goddard said. I knew coach Brazil for over 25 years and saw him act as a coach on and off the pitch. In every situation, he was the same man who pursued Christ and wanted others to know the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus. His Hall of Fame legacy as a football coach and athletic director pales in comparison to how many lives he changed because of his courage to share Christ with others.

He was 58 years old, according to Star Local Media.

Brazil started the Hebron football program in 1999 when the school opened and had a record of 152-97 in 22 seasons before retiring from coaching in May 2022. He led Hebron to a 16-0 record and the Class 4A Division II state. title in 2005, and his team had a 47-7 record from 2004-07.

Brazil was an all-conference offensive lineman at TCU in 1987 and also coached at Shepton, Carrollton RL Turner and Lewisville. He is a past president of the Texas High School Coaches Association and was inducted into their hall of honor last year.

The Lewisvilles football program posted on its website from Brazil, saying we mourn the loss of a great man today. Brian Brazil left an amazing legacy at LHS, LISD and the entire Texas coaching community. Thanks to Coach Brazil, many lives have changed.
