Six days of Major League Cricket begins Thursday in Grand Prairie, with the opener featuring the Texas Super Kings played before a packed house.

DFW’s Texas Super Kings host the Los Angeles Knight Riders at 7:30 PM at Grand Prairie Stadium, the former home of the AirHogs near Lone Star Park.

“Since arriving in Texas, it has been incredible to see the support of the Texas Super Kings. We can’t wait to take the field at Grand Prairie Stadium to represent the Lone Star State in front of a packed house and be a part of a special night of cricket in America,” said Faf du Plessis, captain of the Texas Super Kings.

Both teams feature global cricket superstars playing alongside the best domestic talent.

“It’s going to be a historic night at Grand Prairie Stadium as the first Major League Cricket game opens in front of a packed stadium this Thursday night. I’ve always talked about wanting to represent the Knight Riders wherever they play,” said Sunil Narine, Los Angeles Knight Riders captain. “We’ve been talking about coming to the US for a long time and I’m delighted that it’s finally happening. It’s great to hear that the opening game sold out and we can’t wait to bring our exciting brand of cricket to the fans in America.”

“Fans will experience an unforgettable night of cricket in America on Thursday as we welcome the world’s best players to Grand Prairie Stadium for the opening match of Major League Cricket,” said Sameer Mehta, Founder of Major League Cricket.

Mehta said tickets are selling quickly for other matches and they expect to sell out in the future. Thursday’s game is the first of eight that will be played at the park from July 13 to 18.

On Friday, MI New York will face off against the San Francisco Unicorns and the Seattle Orcas against the Washington Freedom. On Saturday the Unicorns take on the Orcas and on Sunday the Super Kings return to the field to face the Freedom while the Knight Riders play against New York. On Monday, the Super Kings will play against New York and on Tuesday, the Knight Riders will play against the Unicorns.

After leaving Grand Praire, the teams will head to Morrisville, North Carolina, where they will play seven games at Church Street Park before returning to North Texas for the playoffs and the championship at the end of the month.

“We know our teams will give fans some amazingly explosive T20 cricket – we can’t wait for the action to begin,” Mehta said.

If the lure of a new sport in North Texas isn’t enough of a draw, Thursday will feature a drone show featuring the league’s six teams during an inning break, an aerobatic flight from the GB1 GameBird and postgame fireworks. .
