Major League Cricket (MLC) begins on Thursday when the Texas Super Kings take on the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the opening match at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. The six teams are mainly American Indian-owned venture capitalists in the start-up and IT sectors.
The intense tournament runs for 17 days through July 31 and features 19 games at two venues in Dallas and Church Street Park in Morrisville. The competition was originally supposed to be played in 2021, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was postponed to 2023.
The league is studded with some of the star names of international cricket like Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, former South Africa skipper Faf Du Plessis, star England opener Jason Roy and New Zealand seamer Trent Boult.
