Men’s and Women’s Track Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, 11 All-Academic Athletes

MANHATTAN, Kan. The K-State men’s and women’s track and field teams were named All-Academic Teams by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday (July 13), along with 11 All-Academic athletes.

To qualify for All-Academic competition, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, men’s team 3.193, women’s team 3.555, both qualifying for the eighth consecutive year.

Five other Big 12 schools had both men’s and women’s teams named All-Academic – Cincinnati, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas Tech. K-State, Kansas and Oklahoma State women had the highest GPA at 3.555, while Texas men had the highest at 3.39.

Eleven Wildcats were also named as academic athletes, including seven women – Urte Bacianskaite, Jasmine Greer, Madelyn McCabe, Emma Robbins, Hannah Stewart, Grace Thompson and Shalysa Wray— and four men — Stephen Kielhofner, Jealous McCall, Joe Placek and Emil Uhlin.

Kielhofner was also named an All-Academic Athlete of the cross country season.

Requirements for all academic athletes included a cumulative GPA of 3.25, competition in at least two semesters and ranking in both the top 96 in their respective event for the 2022-23 indoor season and participation in any round of the NCAA Championships.

204 Big 12 student-athletes were named All-Academic Athletes, with BYU’s men having the most at 28 and Oklahoma State the most women at 24.

The Arkansas men’s and women’s teams were named Indoor Scholar Teams of the Year, while the Florida men and Texas women were named Outdoor Scholar Teams.
