Aussie Water Polo Olympian Tilly Kearns Shows Off Shocking Injuries After Playing Match Against China

Australian water polo star Tilly Kearns has shown her injury online during Japan’s recent World Aquatics Championship against China.

The Stingers won the Group A match in Fukuoka 11-7 – and the 23-year-old is unlikely to forget his time in the pool anytime soon.

Kearns engaged in a social media posting spree, shocking her followers on TikTok and Instagram by showing several deep scratches she had on her chest.

According to the rules of the sport’s governing body, competitors’ fingernails are supposed to be checked before games – but Kearns confirmed that this did not happen before the match.

“No nail check,” #waterball the center forward posted online after the bruises.

– I love playing in China, I absolutely love it. ‘[They are my] Favorite team to play for,” he added with a sarcastic tone.

Aussie water polo great Deb Watson responded to Kearns’ post, saying: “I hope you have betadine,” while water polo fan Frank Ramos spoke for many when he said: “Damn. That’s awful.’

Kearns was part of the Australian Stingers team that competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where the team finished fifth.

They lost to Russia 9-8 in the quarterfinals.

The daughter of Aussie rugby union great Phil Kearns is now aiming to compete in her second Olympics in Paris next year.

Meanwhile, Australia have advanced to the round of 16 at the World Aquatics Championships after finishing second in their group behind the United States.

They will next face Israel on July 22 for a place in the quarterfinals.
