3 Bold Predictions for Nebraska Football in 2023

The Nebraska football season is exactly 40 days away, and here are three bold predictions for the Cornhuskers in Matt Rhule’s first season.

Nebraska football fans have been drinking the Kool-Aid hard as the 2023 season approaches. Matt Rhule has done some exciting things in the offseason, especially when it comes to the 2024 recruiting class.

It has nothing to do with the upcoming season. It still gets fans excited, and after some really solid additions late in the 2023 cycle and in the transfer window, optimism is renewed for Nebraska.

Not all Nebraska football fans buy Rhule-Aid. Some are wary when pundits called Scott Frost the perfect hire. People have said the same thing about Rhule, but in 40 days we’ll get our first look at the new Nebraska football program.

Here are three bold predictions for the 2023 Nebraska Cornhuskers football season.

Nebraska goes bowling

That’s the first question most people ask about the Huskers in 2023 — will they finally go bowl again?

Nebraska has the longest streak without a Power-5 team making a bowl appearance, and this season will end that drought.

The schedule is not easy. But it’s not incredibly difficult either. Back-to-back games against Minnesota and Colorado won’t be an easy start, but if the Huskers can win either of those two games, they should be in a good spot.

A non-negotiation score of 3-0 is important. It’s very doable and would require a lot of pressure for Big Ten play. Nebraska football has been good enough to play in a bowl the last two seasons, but won just seven games total because it couldn’t stop beating itself.

That won’t happen as much this season, and the Huskers will be back in the postseason.
