In early 2023, we at Pro Hockey Rumors sought out new writers, which proved fruitful. We grew the PHR family to its largest size and added a long-time pair of great teammates in Brennan McClain and Josh Cybulski. After the chaos of the draft and free agency season, we are now looking to expand our team again.
PHR is looking to hire part-time writers who can contribute during the day (before 3pm CT) Monday through Thursday. An hourly wage is paid for the position.
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Exceptional knowledge of all 32 NHL teams with no discernible bias.
- Understanding salary cap, cost-benefit analysis and transactional concepts.
- At least some college degree.
- Extensive writing experience, professional experience and a background in journalism are highly preferred.
- Understand journalistic principles, ethics and procedures. Completion of college-level basic journalism courses is highly recommended.
- Attention to detail, no typos, especially in the names of players and editors.
- Ability to follow the style and tone of the site.
- Ability to analyze articles and create intelligent, well-written posts that summarize the news in a few paragraphs. We need someone who can balance fast copy with thoughtful analysis. You must be able to add value to breaking news with your insights, numbers or links to other related articles.
- Knowledge of Twitter, Tweetdeck and other relevant platforms. In general, you need to be able to do many things.
- Flexibility. You must be available to work at short notice.
