The Austin Peay State University community is mourning the tragic loss of one of its student athletes.

Freshman Jeremiah Collinswho played on the school’s Governors football team, died July 21 of injuries sustained in a one-car crash near the university’s campus in Clarksville, Tenn. He was 18 years old.

Collins, who is from Louisville, Ky., was speeding when exiting a Tennessee highway, and his pickup truck rolled several times before coming to rest in a grassy area, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said in a news release.
