Dabang Delhi TTC played almost perfectly against U Mumba TT on Monday night as the finalist from the previous series secured a place in the semi-finals of the fourth season of Ultimate Table Tennis.
The landslide 11-4 win – the biggest margin of the season, matching Chennai Lions’ similar win against Goa Challengers at the weekend – saw Dabang Delhi move up to second on the points table with the final round of the league remaining for each of the six teams.
The Delhi think tank had its plans, with Ayhika Mukherjee – an unusual Indian – facing world number 26 Lily Zhang in the top singles. Ayhika was confident when teammate Jon Persson rolled over Manav Thakkar in the opening rubber and answered the call with a stunning Zhang.
In-form Indian Ayhika used her pucks effectively to flummox Zhang and came out on top twice in a match that saw each of the three games stretched to a golden point.

Sathiyan beat the Indian ace with a forehand, Sreeja Akula wrapped up the game with Delhi’s second clean sheet of the night. A loss could well lead to the final league match on Thursday between U Mumba and Puneri Palta TT – a virtual quarter-final.
