FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts – New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday, and some of his celebrity friends surprised him with an unexpected gift – sparkling wine at the new Bentley.
Rapper Meek Mill posted on his Instagram account a video of the stunning Kraft who received the car. Fanatics chairman Philadelphia 76ers owner Michael Rubin attended the gift with Jay-Z, among others.
Everyone has worked together to create the Alliance for Reform, which, since its inception in 2019, aims to change probation and parole in the United States.
In a video posted to Instagram, Kraft put both hands on his head after seeing the car first and said “Oh my God!” He had apparently hoped to buy a Bentley, but apparently could not find the car he was looking for, which led to a surprise.
“How did you get it?” Kraft asked Rubin.
Kraft was then told that the car had been delivered on a flat surface from Florida.
Kraft’s connection to Meek Mill is well documented. He met him through Rubin and visited a rapper in prison in 2018, speaking publicly on his behalf that his sentence was unfair and reflected a broken criminal justice system.
“It makes it clear to me that we need to do something with criminal justice reform,” Kraft said at the time. “A case like his is really bad in a situation like this. I know some of our NFL players have talked about this and I see it first hand; it’s just wrong. We need to find a way to fix it.”
When the Patriots won the Super Bowl LIII from the Los Angeles Rams, Kraft used a thick gold chain in a winning parade donated by Meek Mill.
