Byron Bay’s table tennis club held a kick-off tournament last week at Newrybar Hall and declared Ian Evans and Janice the best champions after winning three of three matches.
Amazing that the duo only met at night.
Mark Smith and Ashni Murdolo were the main competitors after winning three of four matches.
Ian Cohen y Vashti Eastern lost their last match due to unexpected circumstances, which also left the door open for the new team.
There are no champions, just good luck at night, Janice said.
With its great gaming with such a competent partner, Ian was happy to share tips and information on game strategy.
The good will of all the players at night eased all the pressure, he said.
Teams including Richard Ray and Penny Young, as well as Shokei and Julia Fox, were also competitive.
The memories of the great night linger long.
I just didn’t get the trophy, I got a bottle of kombucha, Janice said.
