Preparation of SJHL for the entire hockey season 2021-22

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) announced Tuesday that it is progressing on a roadmap to return to normal.

The league announced it is planning a full season after a long period of 2021-22 with few games.

The regular series is scheduled to begin on September 24 and end on March 4, 2022.

The first round of the playoffs is scheduled to begin on March 11, 2022.

According to SJHL, the board of directors, CEOs and coaches will soon meet to set a schedule for the coming term.

Jeremy Harrison, the Saskatchewans Minister for Immigration and Career Education, said the return to gaming is good news for communities with SJHL teams.

Hockey has always been a central part of our culture and economy in the Saskatchewan communities, and we look forward to working with the league when we see players on the ice again, Harrison said in a statement.

SJHL suspended the 2019-20 season in March 2020 during the first round of the playoffs due to COVID-19.

The league received approval from the Saskatchewan government in October 2020 to return to operations for the 2020-21 season.

A number of games had been played when SJHL suspended the season in December 2020 due to a rise in COVID-19 numbers in the province.

The Saskatchewan government rejected leaving the league to the province to return to play last spring and the league rejected the rest of the season.

The Saskatchewan government provided $ 1 million in funding to SJHL in January to enable the league to meet the economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
