Racing Optics, an industry leader in the field of multi-layer laminated tears, has signed a multi-year agreement to become an official partner of INDYCAR and the NTT INDYCAR series.

Racing Optics manufactures multi-layer tears from its diverse product range, which are used in every aerosol safety device equipped in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Racing Optics products are considered the industry standard for driver visibility and protection of transparent guards.

“Racing Optics has been an essential partner for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES,” said Jay Frye, President of INDYCAR. “During the development of the aeroscreen, they provided essential feedback, direction and excellent product visibility while avoiding distortions for our driver.”

Racing Optics tears ensure that NTT INDYCAR SERIES drivers maintain excellent visibility throughout the race, as layers can be removed during hold stops by providing a completely clear field of view. Many INDYCAR drivers also wear their helmet visors torn by Racing Optics.

“Increasing aeroscreen visibility is a critical factor at such high speeds,” Racing Optics President Bart Wilson said. “Professional drivers have relied on our industry-leading technology to help them see more clearly with a focus on safety and performance.

“I am proud to continue the Wilson family’s legacy of participating in and working with INDYCAR for over 60 years.”

Racing Optics, Inc., is a family business founded by Bart, Steve and Seth Wilson in Southern California in 1999 and now based in Las Vegas. The Wilson family has deep motorsport roots dating back to the 1940s, when Dempsey Wilson – the father of Bart and Steven – began building roadsters and raced before moving to the Indianapolis 500, where he made four starts in 1958-63 with legends such as AJ Foy and Parnelli Jones.

The company’s multi-layered, laminated tears have become a division of professional and competitive competition, defended by legends such as Tony Stewart, Ricky Carmichael and countless others. Competitive legacy and success have led to expansion into other markets, including military and consumer applications.
