Georgian football lost the commitments of two of the top five recruiters this week as defensive battle Bear Alexander and athlete Deyon Bouie both announced they were giving up the Bulldogs.
Alexander was the first to release and announced his decision Monday after his visit to Texas A&M. June was the first month in nearly a year for recruits to visit after the NCAA had removed the dead time.
Alexander is a 6-foot, 4,335-pound Taklaus from Billy Ryan High School in Denton, Texas, and has a 31st-placed potential. He announced his decision on social media.
Following his release, Alexander planned an official visit to Miami on Friday and an official visit to USC on June 18th.
Bouie resigned on Tuesday and announced his decision on Instagram, saying: “I am blessed and appreciate all the offers and opportunities Georgia has to offer. However, I believe I was committed too early before I could explore all my other opportunities. I will be officially released from the University of Georgia.”
Bouie is generally recruited No. 26 and the second largest potential in the state of Georgia. He is a 5-foot, 11, 165-pound athlete from Bainbridge High School in Bainbridge, Georgia, and originally had offers from Alabama, Florida, the state of Florida, Tennessee, and Texas A&M before committing to Georgia.
Despite the two releases, Georgia still has eight ESPN 300 commitments in Class 2022. Athlete Malaki Starks is now the highest ranking in 30th place, followed by lineup Jalon Walker and defensive Takla Tire West.
