ANNAPOLIS, Md. The Navy Women’s Tennis Program ended in the 2020-21 season, ranking 10th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Atlantic rankings, the national association announced Wednesday.
This is the third time in program history that sailors earned a year-end ranking in the area. After the 2017-18 and 2012-13 seasons, the fleet also ranked 10th in the Atlantic.
During the spring of 2021, the Midshipmen set an overall record of 7-4 and placed 3-2 in the Patriot League. The Navy made its seventh appearance in the final of the Patriot League tournament, where they took top-class Boston University. The midsize men secured their place in the tournament finals after reaching a 3-0 deficit in the rising army in the semi-finals 4-3.
Kacey Moore, Jillian Taggart and Meghana Komarraju represented the Navy on All-Patriot League teams. Moore and Taggart earned the honors of the first team, while Komarraju was selected for the second team. The three winners are the second most in program history and the most after the 2017 season.
In the area, the Navy was in tenth place with Richmond, while national tournament qualifiers Virginia, Old Dominion and James Madison held the top three in the area.
