ST. BOTTOM The Litchfield singles team of Alex Draeger and Tyson Michels had a successful first day of the A-Class personal tournament on Thursday.
Draeger and Michels won two matches to reach the state quarterfinals at St. Cloud Tech High School on Friday.
Theyll play first seed Ishan Nadkami and Zach Piehl from Breck School at 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The winners of the semi-finals are scheduled to meet at 11.30am and the third place match will also be held at 11.30am
Draeger and Michels are the fourth seed of the tournament. They defeated Ethan Leeser and Easton Blissenbach in the first round 6-3, 6-3. In the second round, the Dragon duo dropped a fifth seed from Jake Welsh and Luke Schäfer of Totino-Grace 6-4, 6-4.
Minnewaskas Tate Reichmann won one match on Thursday in a Class A duel. Reichmann defeated Minnehaha Academies Aiden Keef 6-0, 6-1 before dropping Brecks to Clayton Haberman 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. It ended with a Reichmann state meeting run.
Yellow medicine Easts Ean Clarke lost singles in the first round to Evan Fraser of Mounds Park Academy. The scores were 6-1, 6-1.
In the doubles, Benson / Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg duo Peyton LeClair and Taylor Duncan fell to Brecks Nadkarni and Piehl, 6-0, 6-3.
On Wednesday, Breck defeated Mound-Westonka 6-1 to win the Class A team title. Rochester Lourdes defeated Mounds Park Academy 4-3 third.
At AA-grade Prior Lake, Edina won the team title with a 4-0 win over Wayzata. Orono defeated Rochester Mayon 4-3 in third place.
