What has taken Tottenham so long?
Tottenham kicked Jose Mourinho in April and placed former player Ryan Mason on temporary charge.
Since then, Spurs has contacted former manager Mauricio Pochettino after returning to the club.
Like Sporty Earlier, Antonio Conte, former manager of Inter Milan and Chelsea, also negotiated with Spurs as their next manager.
The club also spoke to Fonseca as their process began, but he rose to the top of the list as Paratic soon arrived.
Spurs began negotiations with Fonseca this week, and the deal is expected to be immediate.
How did Fonseca perform in Rome?
Fonseca walked in a difficult situation with Roman. The club had just lost the Champions League and experienced a difficult reorganization due to costly mistakes in the Monchi transfer market.
Owner Jim Pallotta then began takeover talks with the Friedkin group, which came to a halt when the pandemic broke out and resumed over the summer.
A vacuum also opened in the club when Monch’s successor Gianluca Petrachi was fired, leaving Fonseca vulnerable. Not all of the uncertainty was an easy job.
Roma played mild football and made Portuguese subordination to the European semifinals, but his record in the big Serie A games and the drop of the top four once again persuaded the new owners of the Roma to break their inheritance.
Who is Paratici?
Paratici is a former Italian footballer who spent eleven years in the leadership roles of Juventus, including head footballer.
Juventus announced last week that his contract will not be renewed at a farewell press conference held on Friday, June 4th.
Paratici previously worked with Konte at Juventus from 2011-2014, when the club won three consecutive Serie A titles.
The appointment of Paratic means that Levy is preparing to transfer control of football matters to a new influential person.
The record has previously worked as sports director for Comolli, Franco Baldini, Frank Arnesen and David Pleat, but abandoned such a strategy in recent years with Steve Hitchen as the club’s effective recruitment manager.
