COLLEGE PARK, Md. The University of Maryland and the Big Ten Conference released the fall 2021 schedule on Friday morning.
Led by the head coach Adam Hughes in its fourth season under the direction of the program, Maryland will play a 20-match conference schedule in the fall. Non-conference matches and invitations will be announced later.
Maryland will face each Big Ten team at least once and play twice in Minnesota, Penn State, Ohio, Northwestern, Michigan, Michigan State and Rutgers. Terps will play nine matches against NCAA tournament teams 2020-21 as six teams from the conference advanced in last spring’s tournament.
Terps will open the season on the way home against the 2020-21 Big Ten Champions, Wisconsin, on Friday, September 24th. Maryland will then fly to Minnesota for its first meeting with the Gophers of the season on Sunday (September 26).
Maryland hosted Penn State, as in its first weekday, on Wednesday, Sept. 29, before leaving for Columbus to meet the state of Ohio that Saturday (Oct. 2).
Northwest and Indiana will travel to College Park to meet the Terps on Friday, Oct. 8 and Saturday, Oct. 9. Maryland then hits a three-match swing in Michigan (October 15), Michigan State (October 16) and Rutgers (October 20).
The Spartans will face Maryland for the second time in three matches as the state of Michigan visits the pavilion at the XFINITY Center on Saturday, Oct. 23, before Maryland embarks on a trip north to Penn State (Oct. 29).
The longest home department of the Maryland season will be held from October 31 to November 6, when Rutgers (October 31), Purdue (November 5) and Michigan (November 7) come to town to receive the Terps. The Hughes team will then face four consecutive opponents on the road in Nebraska (November 12), Iowa (November 13), Northwest (November 19) and Illinois (November 21).
To close the regular season, Maryland welcomes the state of Ohio (November 26) and Minnesota (November 27) to the XFINITY Center Pavlilion.
