If you’re reading this, you’re probably a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. You will probably also be going to play fantasy football this season as well. We all know when it comes to your fantasy football sketches, most of you try to hide as many of your favorite players as possible.
In fantasy football, there really isn’t a definite thing on the Steelers list. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger should come back and collect strong numbers, but he has never been among the elite of fantasy football. Nonetheless, he gives you a handful of 300 yards of effort, so as a mid-round, he’s not a bad option.
But here things get weird. The Pittsburgh running game should be better than runner Najee Harris, but can you collect a high selection for a beginner working behind a rebuilt starting line of attack? Harris can be stealing if you get him late and he develops quickly. But once again, you can’t go on a sketch plan that says he’s a beginner every week.
The biggest mess is with the wide receiver. There are five talented guys in Pittsburgh, three of whom have a lot of clicks. But is there one guy between JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool who you think is the team’s new Antonio Brown and who produces fantasy numbers every week? Of the three, Claypool is the guy I roll the dice with, but even then I have to assume there are weeks when one of the guys gets hot and has a big game.
Finally, we get to a tight end. Eric Ebron and Pat Freiermuth both have huge fantasy potential, especially as threats to the red zone. Unfortunately, there are far too many names on the chart for either of them to be anything other than a point starter and a week of the week.
