The first podium under his belt from Baku thanks to Sebastian Vettel, and a new factory opens August 2022, Team Leader Szafnauer spoke in detail about his recruitment efforts as he seeks to bridge the gap for F1 top teams.

“We’ve significantly increased the number of people we’ve had since Force India. A new plant is on the way, we’ve started construction already, and its a big, big program to recruit even more,” he said.

“We now have about 535 people and we can reach about 800 areas or any size of the right size cost ceiling We are working strategically at the moment and are trying to recruit like-minded people who want to come to work for Aston Martin Racing and compete at the highest level. The recruitment process is going well, ”added the team boss.

While the Silverstone-based team, which is currently sixth in the championships behind AlphaTaur, hope to reduce the gap with the above teams through structural improvements, Szafnauer added that they have a long way to go.

“There’s a bigger gap for the front teams than for the teams behind, and we need to do a good job for the rest of the season, bring more upgrades, understand the car better, make the drivers more comfortable and fight like as hard as we can rank as high in midfield as possible,” he said. “It’s not easy, even fifth, but we’re doing our best.”

Aston Martin will qualify for the French Grand Prix on the Azerbaijan’s mother podium and are only two points Behind AlphaTaur, in front of the first triple title of the season.
