UMass hockey teams recruited a line change was filled on Monday.
Chicago Steel defender Ryan Ufko will be the tenth new player to join the 2021-22 season list, the school announced Monday.
Steel won the 2021 USHL Clark Cup last season. He placed 43rd on the North American Skater NHL Central Scoutings 2021 NHL Sketch List.
Ryan is a very professional right-shot defender who thinks the game exceptionally well and reminds our fans of Zac Jones, UMass coach Greg Carvel said in a statement. He’s an offensive-minded defender who helps increase our offense, but also defends well in his own head. We expect Ryan to receive this summer’s NHL draft and add it to an extensive list of NHL defenders and opportunities.
Ufko was also named the first All-USHL team. He was third among the defenders of the league and scored 39 points in 53 matches. Twenty of these 39 points came in the power game.
