The Chesterfield table tennis player has been named to the team ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics this summer.
Liam Pitchford, 27, will represent Team GB in the men’s singles tournament, finishing 15th in the latest world classes.
It marks the third time he has competed in games before he had previously performed in London 2012 and Rio 2016.
Liam was the highest ranked player to not make it to the reorganized tournament, but he is glad he was selected now.
He said: Even though it’s been delayed for a year, it still feels amazing to get back on track. It’s going to be my third Olympics, and I’m looking forward to it and hopefully I have a lot more.
I love being part of Team GB, we don’t get to experience it often, unlike some other sports. It’s just an honor to be truly among so many great athletes and people who want to achieve the same goals.

Previously, he managed to reach the semifinals in 2012 before being knocked out by the Chinese team, and succeeded in the 32nd round in Rio in 2016.
Liam will be joined by Tin-Tin Ho, a 22-year-old student at the University of Nottingham who will compete in the women’s singles competition.

“The fact that Liam will become a triple Olympics at just 27 is a huge achievement, while the Tin-Tins qualification is a milestone in the development of the women’s game as well as a personal landmark.
