BOONSBORO Clear Spring junior Kayda Shives continued her tears in the 1A West by defeating Mountain Ridges Rachel Jones in the 6-3, 6-1 title.
Shives improved their season record to 14-1 with a 14th consecutive straight win.
He will meet Pikesvilles Elizabeth Nabutovsky, the champion of the northern region, in the quarterfinals of State 1A on Friday at Wilde Lake Tennis Club in Columbia.
In the final Monday of the 1A West boys duel, Boonsboros Evan Row lost 7-5, 6-3 to Alleganys Jonathan Nelson.

Vadasz gave four hits and four walks and hit eight 5 1/3 innings.
Kamien Gonzalez got two hits for Jefferson (26-3), while Connor Bailey and William Regan Allinger each drove in two times.
Hudson Clement and Shyne Knotts both scored two hits for Martinsburg (22-8).
GOLF
Deane won the Beaver Creek title
Bernie Deane, a longtime member of the Beaver Creek Country Club, waited 12 years to get another club’s title in Beaver Creek.
Deane shot 3-under 141 to win the Al Gardner Club championship on Sunday. He also won the title in 2009.
After the first round, a steady par 72, after sharing the lead with Ken Lampard, Deane was in Tournament 1 in Tournament for nine Sundays. He eventually stopped second-placed Ryan Crabtree (143) with two birds behind nine.
Billy Reed finished third (145), Lampard fourth (149) and Greg Henry Fifth (150).
Among the top ten were Bud Lintelman (151), Zach Weber (153), Trey Colliere (153), Nik Steiner (153) and Ty Bordner (154).
