white sulfur springs The Greenbrier Champions Tennis Classic celebrates its ninth anniversary in September with a slight twist. This year’s event, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 13, is part of the Champions Series tennis round, with participants playing the first prize of $ 25,000.
The annual celebration of the Greenbrier’s rich tennis tradition includes four men’s superstars, a pair of semi-finals and a final, all held in the intimate and charming setting of the central court at Creekside Stadium.
The Greenbrier Champions Tennis Classic is the finale to Grand Salute to Heroes Weekend at The Greenbrier, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the United States. More information over the weekend will be released later.
The 2021 Greenbrier Champions Tennis Classic features 2003 US Open champion and former world number one Andy Roddick, former world second Tommy Haas, former world 4th James Blake and Australian Open Champions Champions Series debut Marcos Baghdatis. Champions Series Tennis is a North American tennis court for master tennis players over the age of 30. Each event has two single-series semi-finals followed by a single-series championship match. The winner earns a $ 25,000 salary.

Roddick was the best tennis player in the United States for nearly a decade. He placed in the Top 10 of the ATP rankings for nine consecutive seasons and reached first place in 2003. Roddick, best known for his strong service, won the 2003 US Open and reached four other Grand Slam finals.
Blake began playing tennis as a member of the Harlem Junior tennis program at the age of five. As a child, she had to overcome severe scoliosis, which forced her to use a backrest for 18 hours a day. Blake, best known for his speed and powerful palm, reached three Grand Slam semi-finals and became the first African-American player in 2006 after Arthur Ashe, who has risen to the top of the ATP.
Baghdatis is a former 8th place single player in the world, best known for his powerful service and palm. Haas began playing tennis in Hamburg, Germany at the age of 4 before moving to Florida at the age of 11 to study at the Nick Bollettieri Academy. Known for its powerful base game, Haas became professional in 1996 and succeeded immediately. He reached the semifinals on the first ATP Tour, dropping to Pete Sampras, and reached world number one in 2002.
