June 19 (Reuters) – Fourth seed Andrey Rublev made another win when he won qualifier Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-1 3-6 6-3, reaching the finals in Halle on Saturday.
The Russian dropped his first set on the lawn this week, but responded by easing the decisive set and booking the Sunday final against either Felix Auger-Aliasssime or Ugo Humbert.
Rublev claimed victory in the 33rd match of the year – second only to the ATP series after Stefanos Tsitsipas (39) from Greece.
He also raised his record for ATP 500 events to 29-2 as the tour continued last year after the coronavirus closed – a period in which he has won four titles at this level.
