Western Massachusetts Division I boys tennis racket

Minnechaug Boys Tennis Court No. 6 won Chicopee Comp No. 3, 3-2 to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. The Falcons will meet No. 2 in Amherst on Sunday, June 20 at 4 p.m.

Minnechaug won the first and second doubles, with Joseph Gentile beating Cody Hevey in two sets (6-0, 6-2) and Evan Kennedy beating Max Morgado in two sets (6-0, 6-1). Brandon Shlaferman won the Chicopee Comp’s third single match and defeated Matthew Sherman in two (6-4, 6-1).

The Falcons and Colts share double matches. Ayden Alves and Ethan Quill defeated Minnechaug’s first twins Joshua Wietecha and Michael Gauthier. Dylan Bonafilla and Jorge Burgos rounded off the afternoon with a Colts victory over Trent Maziarz and Joel Matthews in another pair.

No. 5 Longmeadow wins No. 4 Westfield, 5-0

The No. 5 Longmeadow boys tennis team swept No. 4 Westfield on Friday in the 5-0 Division I quarterfinals.

Next, the Lancers have a semi-final match against No. 1 East Longmeadow on June 21 at a time, while the Bombers season ends with a record 6-6.

Longmeadows Cole Guidrey defeated Westfields Chance Koumentakos 6-4, 6-1 in the first singles, while Tommy McMahon took the win in the second duel and defeated Seth Bodendorf 6-2, 6-2. The third single was won by Lancer Sean Baker, who beat 6-0, 6-0 bomber Alexander Dawicki.

In the first Twins, the Longmeadow pairs of Noah Barnett and Kiraw Grewal won 6-2, 6-2 at home, while duo Ben Norman and Zhenghao Li beat the other pairs 6-0, 6-1 for the Lancers.
