Memphis Depay says he wants to play again under Ronald Koeman, while Barcelona coach confirmed the deal is “almost done”.
The Dutch star contract in Lyon expires at the end of the season, and the move to Camp Nuo has long been advertised.
The 27-year-old was reported to be close to joining the Spanish side last summer, but this time appears to be meeting former Orange coach Koeman.
What has been said?
“As I’ve said before, the move becomes self-evident. It’s still to be seen, I want to leave it at that,” he said at a news conference. “Everyone knows I’ve been connected to them for a long time and I want to play under Ronald Koeman, wait and see. Then the news comes by itself.”
He told US: “Things are going on, keep an eye on the news, but I haven’t signed anything yet.”
Meanwhile, Koeman has confirmed that the club is close to a deal across the board.
When asked about her spouse’s ability to sign Depay, the coach said, “Memphis said something about it today and I can confirm it. It’s not signed yet, but it’s almost there. I wanted to get it in January, if it happens now, it’s great. We know what we can to do together. “
Could Memphis join another club?
The former PSV and Manchester United pier have also been linked to the move to Juventus, while Paris Saint-Germain was also reported interested, but he has suggested that Barca be the only competitor to his signature this summer.
When asked if he expects other clubs to threaten the Catalan side in the fight to sign him, he said, “No, I don’t think so.”
Will Koeman still have Barca next season?
After a disappointing debut season at Camp Nous, Koeman’s place seemed to be under threat this summer, but the president Joan Laporta announced this month that the Dutchman will remain responsiblesaying, “We are giving continuity to the current agreement that Ronald Koeman has.
