CINCINNATI University of Cincinnati infielderJace Mercerwas named a finalist in the second base of the 2021 American Baseball Coaches Association / Rawlings NCAA Division I Gold Glove Team.
Rawlings will announce the winners on Wednesday, June 23 via Twitter. The ABCA / Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007 and are presented annually to the highest defensive players from each of the collegiate and high school baseball divisions.
An ABCA / Rawlings All-East Region selection, Mercer grabbed the other team’s All-AAC rhythms after beating 0.340 in and 0.391 in AAC. He led the Bearcats with hits (71), total bottoms (114), walks (28) and stolen (22), while finishing second in the stroke average, doubles (12), triples (2), games played (53) and starts ( 53).
Mercer belted nine home runs, had 996 percent of the field with just one mistake, and worked a shortstop Joey Bellini flips AAC’s top 50 doubles.
