Some of the world’s best female tennis players will return to downtown Pennsylvania this summer.
The U.S. Tennis Association’s Pro Circuit event, the Koser Jeweler Tennis Challenge, is scheduled for August. 9-15 Hempfield Reception Center in County Lancaster.
The event returns after COVID-19 forced its cancellation in 2020.
The event features the largest purse in the tournament’s 14-year history – $ 100,000.
The USTA Pro Circuit is considered the largest development tennis court in the world.
Many of the world’s current and future stars are expected to compete in the event, which prepares for the U.S. Open in New York later this summer in singles and doubles.
Dozens of former players at Lancaster have continued to pursue successful professional careers, including Jennifer Brady, Elise Mertens, Jessica Pegula and Madison Brengle.
Brengle won the Koser Titles in 2019 and 2018. He is a three-time Koser Champion.
Brady, whose father graduated from Delone Catholic High School and grew up near Harrisburg, reached the Australian Open final earlier this year and reached the US Open semifinals in 2020.
