RECORDING, Conn. The Hockey East Association announced its annual academic awards with 12 Huskies selected for the 2020-21 All-Academic team.
Hockey East announced that a record 187 male students deserved the honor this season. Each student-athlete achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better in bothduring the semesters when he competed actively.
Of the 12 Huskies selected, five student athletes earned the honor for the second time or better. New graduates of Zach Robbins (Glenview, Ill.) And Bradley Stone (London, England) was at the top of the UConn list. Robbins earned the honor for the second time when Stone is one of 18 players to achieve “Distinguished Scholar” status in 2020-21. He has made the All-Academic team in each of the four university game series.
Rising retirees Carter Turnbull (Nanianmo, British Columbia) and Ryan Wheeler (Lancaster, NY) are a league of 34 players with triple prizes. Yan Kuznetsov (Murmansk, Russia) earned the honor of the second straight season.
For the first time, the awards included a rising parent Jonny Evans (North Delta, British Columbia), Tomas Vomacka (Trutnov, Czech Republic), and rising second-year students Cassidy Bowes (Sturgeon County, Alberta), Gavin Puskar (Farmington, Conn.), Hudson Schandor (Northern Vancouver, British Columbia), Matt Pasquale (Northern Reading, Massachusetts) and Artem Shlaine (Moscow, Russia).
