Quinnipiac has named Mike Corbett as an assistant coach in his men’s hockey program.
We were excited to welcome Mike to the program, coach Rand Pecknold said in a statement. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as years as head coach and assistant thanks to three Division 1 programs. He is a certified recruiter and elite coach.
Corbett comes to Quinnipiac from Robert Morrise, where he coaches three AHA All-League selections, two all-rookie selections and a league newcomer, defender and player of the year.
Prior to Robert Morris, Corbett was Alabama Huntsville’s head coach for eight seasons. He was responsible for rebuilding the program after it was discontinued in 2011 and was able to produce three playoffs, the first playoff in the programs to win and win the top ten opponents, and several all-league selections.
It is an honor to have the opportunity to join Quinnipiac’s men’s hockey program, Corbett said. I can’t wait to get to work with Rand and his staff. I want to match and help the players and the program achieve their goals for the coming season, it will be a fun process! Prior to Alabama Huntsville, Corbett was an assistant coach and assistant coach in the Air Force, where he worked for 10 seasons.
In addition to the collegiate level, Corbett also has experience in USA Hockey, where he has coached 15-, 16- and 17-year-old national festivals for 23 years and is on his way to Switzerland in August. assistant coach on the U17 Team USA Five Nations.
Corbett has also served on the NCAA Men’s Division I Hockey Committee.
Corbett graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Denver in 1996 and continued his master’s degree in management in 1998. Denver’s double Vice Captain was also a finalist in the 1997 Hockey Humanitarian Award.
