Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku said he was motivated by watching Michael Jordan’s documentary “The Last Dance” ahead of his team’s 2020 European Championship against Portugal.

Lukaku said watching a documentary about the Chicago Bulls made him realize that he pulls his motivation the same way Jordan did, criticizing him for becoming a better player and proving others wrong.
“I’m not saying I’m Michael Jordan, but some people need it, I’m not the only one,” Lukaku said through a translator. “Cristiano [Ronaldo] always wants to be the best and break all records, [Kylian] Mbapp always wants to win everything and be the next gorgeous. People need something to push themselves. I need it too. “
Lukaku said his first reaction, when he is criticized or when people say someone is better than him, is to go to “practice healing and show what I can do.”
Lukaku will play against Ronaldo on Sunday as Belgium take on the European Championships in Portugal.
Ronaldo has scored five goals in Euro 2020, two more than Lukaku. The Portuguese striker has one goal to break the men’s scoring record in international football. He is on par with former Iranian striker Ali Daei with 109 goals.
28-year-old Lukaku said he has to take the “hat off” Ronaldo from his “impressive” career numbers.
“If anyone can achieve those numbers, it’s Ronaldo,” Lukaku said. “It’s motivation when there’s someone in your league who can do it at that age. There’s no reason why I can’t try to get to that level or as close to it as possible.”
Lukaku will play at the Internazionalale in Serie A when 36-year-old Ronaldo is with Juventus, and he says he should be considered one of the best strikers in world football.
“Over the last few years, I showed that I’m also a top player,” he said. “It was one of my goals, and I think I’ve achieved it. I’ve improved a lot in recent years.”
