San Diego Padres Dinelson Lamet to IL with forearm inflammation

San Diego Padres placed right-handed Dinelson Lamet on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with arm inflammation as he left Saturday night early in the third inning.

Lamet (2-3) left the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in one third inning, one stroke, surrendering to Eduardo Escobar’s 17th home round. He gave two home rounds with 2 innings and four well-deserved runs, taking the defeat as the Diamondbacks grabbed a modern record-breaking 24-match losing point with a 10-1 win.

The Padres have brought Lamet with them slowly since he left the start of the last regular season from 2020 on his elbow. He decided to rehabilitate the reconstructive surgery instead of the offseason.

He has survived five innings only twice in nine starts this year.

Padres manager Jayce Tingler said after Saturday’s game that Lamet felt fatigue in his arm and had difficulty grabbing the slider. Padres also noticed a drop in his speed during the third game run.

Right-handed James Norwood was called to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

The Associated Press participated in this report.
