Cricket Australia will appoint Michael Di Venuto, Jeff Vaughan as assistant coaches

Cricket Australia on Thursday appointed Michael Di Venuto and Jeff Vaughan as assistant coaches for the men’s national team a year after the reduction of support staff to combat the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The duo will join head coach Justin Langer’s coaching staff full-time before the busy summer, which includes the Ashes series, an Afghanistan test and white ball matches against New Zealand and Sri Lanka, according to a Cricket Australia statement.

Both have experience hitting coaches and are seen replacing Graeme Hick, who was fired last year as part of Cricket Australia’s cost-cutting efforts that led to the loss of 40 people.

“Joining the Australian men’s team as an assistant coach is the highlight of my current career, and I look forward to contributing to the team’s success,” Vaughan said.

Langer said he was looking forward to working with the duo.
