Naval Academy football field mother killed with random ammunition after dropping her son at school

The U.S. Navy Academy identified Cummings ’son as a midfielder candidate for Leonard Cummings III in a statement on social media.

“As members of the Navy Academy family, we are doing everything we can to support Leonard, his father, and the entire Cummings family during this incomprehensible time,” Chief Sean Buck said in a statement. “My wife Joanne and I offer our deepest sympathy on behalf of all of us here in Annapolis.”

Midshipman Cummings completed its check-in process on Wednesday and has left the emergency room, the Naval Academy Public Affairs Office told CNN via email.

Jackson said several shots were fired at the parked car and that the shots “went the distance” before Cummings was shot.

He said detectives worked around the clock to resolve the case and review area surveillance videos and other evidence.

“What I say to the shooter is,‘ Give yourself in. We’re coming for you, ”Jackson said.

The FBI and the Office of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting in the investigation, and authorities are offering a $ 20,000 fee for the case information, Jackson said.

Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley said authorities are focusing on removing weapons from the streets.

“The heart of this city is broken. Someone has lost their mother on the most proud day, probably in their lives,” Buckley said. “There are no circumstances under which this can be tolerated.”

Moore’s son also plays football in the Navy and is best friends with Cummings ’son, he told KTRK.

Cummings was very active in the school and community and was chairman of his son’s school football club.

“It melts my heart. I love this child very much. He has done everything we have asked of him,” he said at the time. “We couldn’t ask for a better boy.”

His son Leonard became emotional when he spoke to KTRK at last year’s parade.

“She’s probably one of the greatest mothers in the world. I always tell her this. I always tell her I love her, I give her a kiss on the cheek,” she told KTRK. “I just love my mother.”
