“I came on Monday morning and they texted me, asking if I had done anything with the table,” James said, who owns Bravado Outdoor Products on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard.

It turned out that the prestigious song had been taken from the Umpqua Valley Arts Association area of ​​Fir Grove Park sometime between Sunday and Monday morning.

However, searchers from the Douglas Interagency Narcotics team found a chessboard in the garage while conducting a detective search in the Lookingglass area on Tuesday.

“It was pretty amazing that it was found two days later,” James said. “It was a good timing for us.”

The chessboard table top is made of black concrete with marble inlays on the squares of the board and finished with recycled glass.

“It’s a pretty unique work,” said James, whose company also lent other concrete games to the Art Association for its event, which was canceled on Sunday due to record heat. “It’s one we paid a lot of attention to to make it an exhibit.”

The table was transported from the Lookingglass area home and taken as evidence as part of an ongoing investigation, but the table was released back to Bravado by the Douglas County Law Firm.

Roseburg police are continuing to investigate the thefts, and there was no further information on DINT’s activities on Tuesday.

Bravado has borrowed a chessboard as well as concrete table tennis and foosball games for the Arts Association for his annual festival for years, and James said he will continue to do so.
