Omotayo signs a one-year contract with PPC Villeneuve – channels for television

The 2019 African Games table tennis champion, Olajide Omotayo, has signed a one-year deal to join French team Pro A’s PPC Villeneuve for the 2021/2022 season.

Omotayo spent more than six years playing in the Italian Table Tennis Super League. The Nigerian, scheduled for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics debut flight, joins Egypts Omar Assar, who also trades in France’s top league.

After announcing the 26-year-old Nigerian signing at his social media cafe over the weekend, the club described Omotayo as a fighter hoped to help the team fight for the top spot in the French elite league.

The club’s statement reads that Nigerian Olajide Omotayo, 26 and ranked 92nd in the world, is a huge opponent to our competitors. Little known in France, it is interesting to follow, and his fighting spirit will be a quality appreciated by the French public.

Omotayo will be joined by a number of other team members, including French junior international Jules Cavaill and experienced Russian star Alexey Liventsov, as the team is coached by Admir Duranspahic, who replaced outgoing coach Lepage Cedric.

Excited, Omotayo, who last played TT in Genoa, Italy before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, has portrayed the change to France as a dream come true.

This is a big move for me after playing in Italy for over six years. Now I have the opportunity to play against some of the best players as well as improve my game. Every player’s dream is to play in Europe’s top league and France is among the top three leagues in the world, I can’t wait to play because I know my game is getting better and I also have the opportunity to reveal top class coaching in a good club, he said.

The gold medalist at the 2012 National Sports Festival expressed his appreciation for PPC Villeneuve’s leadership for the confidence to sign him and he promises to pay their trust with a good performance in the league.
